I hope you soaked up the rays during summer Solstice last weekend, a time of stillness to integrate the sun's physical reset of our bodies. The coded light literally changes our DNA, circadian rhythms and hormonal system for the season. Take a deep breath…now. As we enter July, there’s much more fierce incoming cosmic fire! In this already fiery Year of the Horse, the Sun and Jupiter enter fire sign Leo*. Pants on fire, hair on fire, world on fire! How can we use the power of fire for good?
This revolutionary era we’re in the middle of is stoking something unlike what we’ve experienced before. According to guidance, we are being asked - no, required - to jettison all our karmic baggage. No several lifetimes to work through a particular issue. The good news is we don’t have to “process” all of it; we can burn through it. That might still entail awareness, unearthing deeper patterns that we’ve carried over - or not. No more hand wringing or analyzing. All we really need is intention and a method to let it go. Here are a few ways to do that!
I do passive exercises in the am, and dedicate that time laying on the floor to my physical and energetic self care. For the last several months Merle Yellow Kidney, a Blackfoot healer I met during sweats in Montana (now passed over) has come to me. He brings forward one or more of the four elements - fire, wind, earth and water - to help me release old karmic patterns. Water streams through me to cleanse and refresh. Wind stirs up and carries away old energetic debris. Earth (often related to a mini dismemberment journey*) allows me to drop everything, and be born anew.
Usually fire comes in when some karmic dross needs to be burned up. Recently fire was different, more gentle - appearing as radiant sunlight. I heard Merle say “sunlight is the best disinfectant”; sunlight and air are important to wound healing (it’s also a phrase used about political transparency!)
When that would happen there was a noticeable upgrade in my frequency. Usually the light body on the 7th level of the auric field is a yellow-gold color. With this shift it becomes more white. You can visualize that, and may feel or sense it in other ways. After you’ve arrived the first time, it’s bookmarked; accessing the higher frequency is like pushing a preset. The more often you do it, the more you’ll embody it!
Fire can be motivating, inspiring action and decisiveness (and impulsiveness). It can be destructive too. What’s happening now is the burning up of thousands of years of humanity’s collective karma. Can you see it? The kindling of broken structures and institutions is fuel for the fire, and all the astrological air is feeding it.
Even so, we can bring balance to the elements that make up our bodies and psyche. Incorporate earth and water into your day. Greet the ground with feet or seat, and bathe, swim, splash and mist yourself often. We can use the inspiring aspect of fire to elevate our frequency, creating the cumulative push to ascend and evolve - as individuals, and part of humankind. Have an illuminating July!
Peace, love and healing -

* Saturn and Neptune are in another fire sign, Aries; air comes from Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius (the constellation of revolution/evolution!)
