We’re in relation with everything. Animals, trees, birds, bugs; all living beings, including Earth herself. Then there are the unseen connections with other conscious beings and energy fields. So much is happening and affecting us, we can’t possibly hold it all in our mental awareness. What can we do, when our main point of reference is this physical body and life? Focus on what we can understand better – our relations with other humans. We ache for more harmony and love. What gets in the way?
We are disconnected from the natural world, our bodies, our emotions, our spiritual essence and other people. There’s an epidemic of loneliness, recognized in the U.K. as a health condition. Families are getting smaller; communities are more fragmented. Spending time online might feel helpful, but ultimately makes it worse. It can be hard to even talk to others anymore for fear of being judged or categorized! The resulting silos of interaction can fuel grievance and even violence. Much of this is by design, for corporate profit and/or political control.
All this creates a culture of alienation and separation. It affects everyone; we might avoid or even cut off contact with family members and friends. The term “ghosting” is common. Young people find it hard to date anymore! What’s going on that we are missing? It’s normal to have areas of disagreement with others; conflict is unavoidable but it can be worked through with positive results. How can we relate to each other in a more holistic, understanding and compassionate way? Start close to home, with the people in your environment.
There’s plenty of relationship advice, from so many sources! Professional and informal, practical or psychic, based on a belief or system or lived experience. General advice, or what has worked well for others, doesn’t necessarily apply to your situation. It misses that there are two or more people involved in every interaction. The better counsel addresses those variables, exploring your part in the overall picture.
There is a plethora of models to define us humans. Oriented to speak to physiology and health, the work and business environment, personality, or innate characteristics and potential, their context is limited. Some are more inclusive; astrology, Indian ayurveda and Chinese medicine are ancient examples. In modern times we have psychology and its archetypes, and more recent ones like the Enneagram and Human Design. We can all be categorized.
We are complex creatures. How a person communicates and what boundaries are in play can explain why what you’re doing or saying isn’t landing. Habitual reactions often define the situation. What if a model included all these aspects, and more? Not just describing strengths and weaknesses, but how to support each individual (and ourselves) physically, emotionally and psychologically.
The model I find most helpful and the easiest to use is Energy Signatures. It is comprehensive, detailing all of the above! Plus it includes the energetic reality underlying it all - forms like chakras, energy bodies and auric fields. We can start with the more obvious, practical manifestations and go deeper over time, in layers.
Models are useful perspectives to view, understand and function through, but they are not reality. Understanding Energy Signatures brings us into conscious awareness of the more subtle nature of who we are and what we are here for. We come to learn, and have designed this incarnation to challenge ourselves and evolve (the choice is ours!)
The more we do that for ourselves and our loved ones, we contribute to the greater field of consciousness, of humanity and its evolution. Attending to our closest personal relationships may seem like we’re making a small difference. Like a spider web, when a single strand of Indra’s net is touched, everything else responds and is changed.
