We’ve got a lot of ground to cover this year, and it’s off with a bang. This month alone provides enough cosmic energy to shake up the whole world. On just one day – February 17th – we have a new moon, a Ring of Fire solar eclipse (the beginning of that unpredictable, potentially life-changing 2-week eclipse window) and The Lunar New Year. The Fire Horse only appears every 60 years. What was happening in 1966? Two Cultural Revolutions began – one in China, and one in the United States!
Our preparation to get ready was 2025, the Year of the Wood Snake - shedding old skin to reveal the new. Recognizing what is not working, and letting go.
Snake creates a watery layer underneath its old skin, becoming dull - its eyes cloud over, vision is impaired. During this time the snake is inactive, vulnerable, uncomfortable. When ready, it rubs its head against something hard and abrasive to break the old skin open. It’s a rupture, a wound, that starts the process. Slithering forward, making full contact with the earth, it grounds its body and every movement serves to release the old.
Lunar New Year is represented by an animal and an element, creating the 60-year cycle. The Fire Horse is all about movement – fast, enthusiastic, and confident as it flies over hurdles on the ground. It’s powerful and focused. Horses are also highly sensitive and intuitive too, responding immediately to the environment. Expect rapid change, bold moves, and venturing into unexplored territory.
The fire theme continues with a “Ring of Fire” annular solar eclipse. It’s called that because it’s not a total eclipse; only the corona will be seen flaring out around the blackness of the moon. Squared to Uranus, it adds more unpredictability to an already unstable mix. All these markers take place in Aquarius, meaning it will affect us both personally and collectively. Are you ready to charge ahead? Are you done - are we as a society done - with processing what needs to be left behind? In the midst of all this, take care to pace yourself.
As transparency moves toward accountability, the truth will set us free. Free to create a world more aligned with shared values of compassion and abundance for all. Eclipses can portend a quick, unforeseen turn of events. I have personally experienced that more than once, where a trajectory changes in an instant!
A few days later, Saturn (structured reality) and Neptune (melting illusion) start a new cycle in Aries (a fire sign). That brings instinct, bravery, and brashness into the mix. In the coming turbulence the courage to follow what feels right will be critical. Outer planets with their long orbits stay in a sign for thousands of years. Something long-lasting is being born now.
New moons are, well, new. The tidal energy is at peak yin - pulled back into a quiet void. Set your intentions for the coming fire-hose to align with your deepest longing for yourself and the world. All our efforts will be magnified. We can make it happen - remember the Fire Horse is red, the color of good luck and happiness in Asia!
Peace, love and healing -

Bear
